Born in Delhi to a Malik Jat family from Faridabad (Haryana), her parents moved to Chandigarh just after her birth. After Class X, she did Class XII in arts and then went on to complete her BA (HONS) with LL.B. She wanted to enroll herself for a course in current affairs. Thus her father, a lawyer himself, advised her to join LL.B. She is a leading Hindi-language news anchor and journalist from India, who has now joined India TV as an anchor and executive producer. Prior to this she has worked with Aaj Tak as an associate editor and anchor in Mumbai.

She has been recently conferred with the prestigious News Television Award 2014 for "The Best News Anchor Entertainment", also won the MY CITY award for the Best Entertainment News Anchor for the year 2014/15. She was also nominated for the Best Anchor with the prestigious award AVTA (Asian Viewers Television Awards), where she narrowly lost to Barkha Dutt of NDTV in the final round and she got Aadhi Aabadi 7th Women Achievers Awards in 2015.
